Hello Everyone!!! I just returned from a fun filled weekend in Detroit, Michigan.  I met with the convention committee and planned out the logistics for TRL:TLP.  They seem very excited for the show.  Just a friendly reminder…please send your responses and pictures that requested in the email I sent to all the performers.  The deadline for that information is May 15th.  I know the show is a over a month away, however, the TRL:TLP staff needs to organize the show prior to convention.  Please send that information to walkerout@gmail.com ASAP.  We are also looking for 6 more acts (three kids and three adult).  If you have not sent your registration in please do so.  TRL:TLP would love to see you in the show!

Welcome!

Hey all you crazy peeps!!!Welcome to the TRL:TLP blog site!  I’m very excited for this year’s LPA National Talent Show.  This year’s show is getting a brand new face lift!!!  It’s hip, fresh, and will use the latest technology.  When the conference committee selected us as the chairs for this event, we were very honored.  When we began the planning process, we wanted to do something that would engage the audience and make the performers feel like a million dollars.  We wanted to not only see a talented performance, but also allow the audience to connect to each performer by creating a backstory of their talent and who they are as a person.  Thus we created Total Request Live:  Talented Little People.  It has been an exciting adventure and we are looking forward to the TRL:TLP performance!  In my next blog I will discuss why it is important for us to share our talent. Stay tuned!

welcome!

Helloooo!!  One of your TRL:TLP VJ’s checking in.  The more tech-savvy of the two (sorry Josh!)  This is my first blog over here!  (My personal blog can be found here.)  So, about 5 months ago, Josh asked me to co-host TRL:TLP at the National Little People’s Conference in Detroit, Michigan.  Of course my answer was an immediate, “yes!  I can’t wait!  What an honor.”  Talent Show has never seen a remix, remodel and revamp like this before.  This ain’t your 3 hour snoozefest! :)  So after my ecstatic yes, my second thought quickly followed, “this is a big deal!  What will I wear?” I’m so admitting my vanity right there, but all you girls can relate, right?  I mean, this is an LPA convention for goodness sakes, don’t give me the “I don’t think about what I wear”.

Soooo…I quickly went to my inspiration guide.  First things first.  I have a file filled with my favorite fashion do’s on the red carpet and any where a fashionista is working it.  I have pages and pages of my favorite fashion choices.  And I am not just talking about trend-followers out there, I’m talking about those who reinvent themselves and take risks that work.  (So very Vogue-speak of me, tee hee!)

I started going shopping at my favorite hotspots soon after that.  While I love Anthropologie most of all, I certainly can’t afford that amazing venue more than maybe once a year.  I prefer to take it to the vintage consignment shops, Nordstrom sales (because seriously, free alterations!) and a few other secret hot spots.  I started figuring out what I wanted.  I think I’ve narrowed it down between a few choices but I’m not positive yet.  I’ll bring you along in the journey over the next few weeks.

But basically, the point of this blog is not just to say, find your favorite celebs and copy them.  (Because if you haven’t noticed, those girls are like 5?8? and Hollywood skinnyyyy!)  Work what YOUR mama gave you.  My advice is take what you like from your fashion inspirations and make it work for your LP self.  Realize the unique shape of your body, play up your assets, add in some confidence and creativity, and you can work it.  Just because a trend works for Miss Katie Holmes doesn’t mean it’ll work for you.  In the next few weeks, we’ll talk about adapting today’s trends to fit your frame and you’ll go along with me on my journey to TRL:TLP 2008!

And as always, you young LP girls out there, I’m always here for you if you wanna shoot any questions or comments my way.  I’m here to give honest advice and encourage you every step of the way.  I’m still young myself, which means, I can relate!  But I’m not 14 years old, so I have the benefit of travelling the journey just a few laps ahead.  Simply email me at jen@trl-tlp.com and we’ll use this blog to dialogue.  Can’t wait to hear from you!

Live and learn,

Jen

P.S.  Josh and I will both be posting entries on this site, so keep checking back for more!  And don’t forget to check out our official site because we are updating content weekly and adding a lot of fun features.
